With the Seattle Boat Show beginning next week, I'm busy organizing all the artwork to be displayed in the gallery. I also will be working the Boat Show Gallery (inside the Boat Show) next Saturday, looking forward to a fun event.

Restaurants

We eat out alot, primarily because Tim & I have vastly different food requirements - Tim LIVES to eat while I eat to LIVE. OK, and also because I don't cook. So here are some of the places we've been know to frequent. See ya there!

Chinooks at Fishermen's Terminal
Great happy hour, great view, great bread ... yum. Sometimes called "Nancy's Kitchen" because we eat there so often. When we are lucky enough to be invited along (or can talk my brother into it), we love to go here by boat, it's the best kept secret along the waterfront.

Jemmy's Wok

We've been following this restaurant for years, back when Jemmy owned it and it was located by the Post Office at Northgate Mall. It was great! Good American-style Chinese food at reasonable cost. Then it moved to Mill Creek. Then it changed hands. Then it changed hands again - so far still good. Now it's changed yet again, for 1 fatal last time, I'm afraid. New owners are in the process of applying for a liquor license (why? what happened to the liquor license?) and will be switching the cuisine to Thai food. Don't get me wrong, I love Thai food. And Uncle "Joe" assured us he will still be cooking ... but. Is it the end on an era? We'll see, stay tuned.

Famous Dave's BBQ

Now open at Everett Mall (we were displaying there all Christmas season) this is yet another chain of replacement restaurants seeking out Tony Roma's finger licking patrons. Unlike most roadhouse-type BBQ joints, this is actually clean, no peanut shells to contend with. Prices are reasonable and the food is pretty good - the potato salad is "as good as Mom's - and she made great potato salad!" And for the non-carnivores, the salads are great - huge, get the smaller size or shove 1/2 of the veggies down the meat-eater in your life. YEEHAW.

Rhodes River Ranch

We were honored to be part my brothers' birthday party here recently - honored because it's a very specialized venue. The ranch is the main business here, and very busy with people doing ... ranchy type stuff. Seriously, since I'm the city-girl-sister, I really know nothing about this world but I can recognize great people and amazing quality when I see it, and Bonnie, the manager, makes sure that everything is exceptional. The restaurant is built inside the huge stable/boarding building - horses and horse stuff everywhere in view from behind the floor to ceiling windows of the restaurant (windows that block any horse odors, too). The huge dining room not only serves up daily meals for the ranch hands (I'm pretty sure that's the correct term), but is also open to the general public, and available for catered events. And the food is fabulous, everything hand made and fresh-fresh-fresh! Watch this great place for upcoming wine tastings and other fabulous events. Bonnie's got some fun things coming up this year.
